Samaritans Lift SUV off Age 6 Boy Pinned Underneath: 'It's a Miracle'

Look left, look right, all clear, all right. There are plenty of lines parents teach their kids in an attempt to keep them safe and out of harm’s way, especially around cars.

Despite the vigilant drilling, even the most obedient and smart kiddos have lapses of judgment — they are, after all, kids. Fortunately for one young man from Conway, Arkansas, a dart across the pavement cost him a painful lesson, but not his life.

Sarah Everett and her husband Jason have seven boys — that’s a lot of rough and tumble, and a lot of moving pieces to keep eyes on. Their 6-year-old son, Titus, was helping get his baby brother as the family got out of their car for post-church lunch at a restaurant.

“I’ve told seven boys, I’ve told them a hundred times, ‘stop and look both ways, don’t run in a parking lot, look to the right and left,'” Sarah told Fox News. But that didn’t keep little Titus from running to join his brothers and getting hit by a car in the process.

Sarah wrote about the incident on Facebook later. “Titus was being helpful and unbuckled Haddon, and then he jumped out of the van and ran straight in front of a moving mid-size SUV to try and catch up to the rest of the family,” she wrote.

“I saw him get hit and the vehicle run over him. I just remember screaming for Jason who was holding Paton and had his back turned.”

“The sweet lady stopped her vehicle and got out to go in and get help and I got one (sic) the ground to see Titus in a ball completely pinned under the middle of the vehicle unable to move. I got on the ground half-way under her vehicle holding Titus hand and reminding him that God is with us. He was pinned in such a way that his back was up against the underside of the vehicle so all that heat was burning him and if it had been another inch it would have severed him horribly.”

“For him not to have a broken bone, it’s a miracle. The underneath of the car cut his back,” Jason said. “If the lady would have driven up another inch or two it would’ve tore his body in half.”

Fortunately, people were responding quickly, including her other children, who had the wherewithal to stop the situation from getting any worse.

“Our 8 year old Huddy noticed the vehicle was still running so he jumped in and turned it off,” Sarah continued. “Our other boys were running to get help and Joshua took control as the big brother to keep the younger ones comforted.”

“A sweet lady picked up and held our Baby Paton while Jason was trying to jack up the vehicle and get help. The Logan’s Roadhouse (Conway, AR) Manager, Jimmy literally dropped everything and ran out to help along with 4 of his employees: Jake, Leslie, Christie and Zach. They and other selfless citizens were able to help Jason lift the vehicle off Titus while others helped me pull him out.”

Titus was transported to a hospital and attended to, but miraculously had no broken bones and was sent home the same night. He suffered some vicious bruises and scrapes and has had difficulty walking, but who wouldn’t?

“As I reflect on today there’s these little details that I’m so thankful for,” the grateful mother continued. “Titus had just put on his Lil Marine baseball hat which spared his head from severe burns and trauma. He has a couple bumps, burns and scrapes on his head but it would have been much worse had he not had on that hat.”

“This morning while getting ready for church I threw him a long sleeve shirt to wear when most of his brothers wore short sleeves – So that protected his arms.”

“His back will be scared (sic), probably for life but oh what a testament it will be.”

The Everetts are giving the glory to God for their son’s life, and have made it clear that they were helped by angels and God in freeing Titus. They’re also convinced that their little boy must be destined for great things since his time clearly was not up yet.

As for Titus, he has plans of becoming a preacher, and his passion is so obvious that he’s been dubbed the “Sermonator” and even got a pulpit for his birthday. For now, though, his parents are just grateful to have him with them, safe and recovering.
