School Bus Driver Saves Money from Own Paychecks To Buy Every Child on Route Christmas Gift
How many people do you have on your Christmas list every year? Family, friends, neighbors? Perhaps co-workers, employees, and the mailman, too?
There’s no limit to the number of people we could give to. Instead, our limits are generally imposed by the time and money we have at our disposal.
A man from Dallas added 70 people to his gift-buying list this year, and he made sure each of them got what they requested.
Jenkins is a bus driver with Lake Highlands Elementary in Dallas, Texas. One day as kids started loading up, they realized the bus was decked out in wrapped presents. One kid even asked Jenkins if he was Santa.
Impressed with his generosity, the school posted pictures of Jenkins and his gift haul.
“This is Curtis Jenkins, a bus driver for our school,” they posted on Dec. 22. “He asked every kid on the bus what they wanted for Christmas and then BOUGHT IT FOR THEM! There was even a bike on that bus!!! This reminds us how much good there is in the world and how we should all strive to be a little more like Curtis. ❤️❤️❤️”
Some people have joked that the bus driver bought the bike for some unruly kid on the naughty list so Jenkins wouldn’t have to bus him around anymore, but the charity was evident in each of the hand-selected gifts on board.
Jenkins commented on the school’s post, giving credit to others who helped fund his gifting spree.
“Meadow Gobert good morning i would like to thank you out the bottom of my heart for what you gave to me for the babies on my bus, that 100 dollars was gave out of love from you and the greatness of your heart, i came home and was almost in tears that you would do that without even being ask,” he wrote.
“That is the reason i do all that i do because i know love still is in the hearts of man and woman thank God for you and all the people like you i didn’t even know your name i just ask God to open up the window of heaven and bless her with with all that her heart desires…. Thank you again.”
“He’s always wanting to do something for the kids, he’s been talking about it for months,” his wife Shaneqia Jenkins told NBC5.
“Seeing the faces of those kids was more than anything that I could ever do with the money,” Jenkins admitted, and he knows what even the smallest acts of kindness can mean to a kid.
“I had an auntie that would buy a pack of socks and she would give us all one pack of socks and wrap it,” Jenkins said. “When you’re going to school and you have a hole in your socks, that new pair of socks meant something to you.”
“I’m not at a job, I’m on a mission from God,” he continued. “I don’t say anything about religion to the kids. I just let them know whatever they love is fine with me, just love somebody on the way.”
