Twin Sisters Pregnant at the Same Time Never Thought They'd Actually Give Birth on Same Day at Same Hospital

Siblings are built-in friends for life. Across the distance, across the years, they can remain your best friends and most valiant supporters.

The tumultuous years of childhood may not seem promising, or that age when your younger sister keeps “borrowing” your clothes without asking, but by the time sisters become adults, they often mellow out and stay close friends.

Jalynne Crawford and Janelle Leopoldo are two of those sisters who, despite getting married and living in different states, have remained close. And since they’re twins, they have even more similarities than most.

Jalynne already had three kids, but she wanted to even it out with four. Janelle also wanted four kids, but both of them hit multiple roadblocks.

According to People magazine, both 30-year-old women had experienced different issues. Janelle, the (very slightly) younger sister had an ectopic pregnancy and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Jalynne had gone through two miscarriages.

Do you have a special pregnancy story?

Having experienced these different setbacks made the eventual pregnancy announcements just that much sweeter. Janelle was the one to text Jalynne and tell her the amazing news.

“When I got the text my face lit up. I got chills in my arm and then seconds later she called and we were both like ‘Thank you, thank you God,'” Jalynne recalled.

“It’s making me tear up right now. I was like ‘this is God’s way of answering our prayers.’”

It answered prayers, but it also posed a problem: Where would their parents go?

One of their daughters lived in California, and the other in Arizona. They were due so close to the same time that the parents could really only be in one place.

#nationaltwinday love my twin and our bond and our babies sharing the same bday making them “twins”. Enough said ?

So the sisters planned to have their babies together, on the same day, in the same hospital. That would solve the logistical issues and give the sisters the support and family they needed — plus they’d be able to celebrate their new arrivals together.

Of course, they made sure to clear the plan with their doctors. Jalynne said that hers “said it was fine, they were the same gestational age and due within a week of one another.”

And so, two baby boys — Jace Alan Leopoldo and  Bryson Ryder Crawford — were born on June 18 in an Arizona hospital. Jalynne cleared up who had their baby first.

“Everyone always asks how we decided who got to go first,” she said. “Well, I was born first and got pregnant first. Plus my husband only gets three days of paternity leave.”

Janelle was happy to have had such a unique experience as well. “Giving birth on the same day in the same hospital was like waking up on Christmas morning opening two presents at once,” she said. “It was a miracle.”

Now that Jalynne has rounded out the kid count, she’s called it. But she also knows her sister has a ways to go. It looks like these two sisters will have plenty more opportunities to show their support for and love of one another as they raise their families.
