Widow's Doorbell Camera Catches FedEx Driver's Act of Kindness

Share

Sometimes it’s hard to trust that a person is being genuine. With all the selfishness and narcissism in this world, it’s easy to doubt even “acts of kindness” as ploys for social fame.

There’s a valid argument to be made for perpetrating acts of kindness, even when they’re your own so that the world can see and know that there are still caring people out there. However, there’s still something about an act of kindness that’s caught accidentally that just shows the epitome of goodness.

These little actions don’t have to be monumental. You don’t need to be rich or buy someone a house or do something grandiose. You just have to be aware, take time to know people and make a little effort to bring happiness into their lives.

Brian Scholl has got that down pat. He’s a FedEx delivery man, and while he was out making deliveries, he stopped at Leigh Anne Skoda’s house.

Her porch was covered in snow, so he picked up a nearby shovel and scraped it and her sidewalks off. Small, simple, effective.

Skoda’s Ring doorbell camera caught the good Samaritan red-handed, and she posted the video on Facebook to illustrate how meaningful a simple act of kindness can be.

“I went to my Ring doorbell app and it showed that Brian who is a FedEx guy in our town was scooping my sidewalks,” Skoda told KLKN.

“It just makes you feel really good. I did not ask him to do that and he just came here and out of the goodness of his heart did it for us because he wanted to help us.”

“Doorbell cameras don’t only catch people stealing packages,” the mother of four wrote on March 7. “Our FedEx guy stopped and out of the kindness of his heart, scooped my sidewalks.”

“I truly feel like we cross paths with people for reasons. Thank you Brian Scholl for just being you, and being one of the people who truly ‘get’ our situation! #kindessmatters”

The kindness meant even more to Skoda, as she lost her husband, Adam, who passed away in 2017 from pancreatic cancer.

While she and her husband were in some of their darkest hours, an anonymous care package was sent to them. It was a comfort, and now Skoda joins others to pay it forward in the same way.

“I hope they have the same feeling my husband did, just that somebody cares about them enough to put all that together and send it to them so they can have some comfort in a not so fun time in their life,” she said.

“Nobody really knows what anybody else is going through and just some small little act of kindness can go a long way.”
