Woman Blown Away When Surprised with Large Check To Buy Car & Pay Daughter's Medical Bills

Share

When you fall on hard times and the world starts to look dim, who do you turn to? Do you rally yourself and prepare to work harder?

Do you rely on caring friends or supportive family? Do you pray?

Mary Warder, known as Miss Mary by many of her young patrons, was facing some difficult life circumstances. She had to work three jobs just to earn enough money to pay for treatment for her daughter.

Overwhelmed by medical bills, the last thing the cash-strapped momma needed was for her car to break down — but that’s exactly what happened.

Reduced to taking the bus to get from job to job, the woman of faith was in a tough spot. Fortunately for her, some other moms who frequented one of her places of business — the Coastland Center carousel —  noticed her predicament and their hearts went out to her.

“She’s always someone you can go to if you’re not feeling good,” said one mom, Greta Marszalkowski, according to Naples News. “She’ll lighten your spirit and give you prayer and hope.”

She gives good advice, too, which is what encouraged Marszalkowski to pursue her dream job.

“She said, ‘You are not alone, and God will provide. You are deserving, and stay strong among trials and tribulations.’ (Teaching is) my dream come true, and she helped me with it. I owe a lot to her.”

“For her to be that nice,” Angie Pierce, another mom, said, “if I had to work three jobs, I don’t think I’d be that nice.”

“She’s like a local celebrity,” said a dad, Mike Gehring.

So moms banded together to do something for Warder. Marszalkowski led by loaning Warder her car so she could get back to her usual schedule — but they all knew there needed to be more.

Brittany Wallace and Angie Pierce both posted on their Facebook groups about Warder’s situation, and a GoFundMe was started. After around a month, they’d gathered enough to present to Warder.

When Warder saw the check and realized her prayers had been answered, she was overwhelmed. They presented her with $5,000 to put toward a car, roses, and a $100 gift card to a salon.

“I was blown out of the water from all the love and kindness that was shown to me — that people cared,” she said. “You never know how much you mean to someone until their lives have changed and they’re changing yours. Everybody wins when God’s involved.”

She made sure to thank every person present, and then gave everyone a spin on the carousel for free.
