Dad Speeds Pregnant Mom to Hospital, Won't Stop for 20 Cop Cars Chasing after Him

The birth of a baby is worthy of celebration. Though new parents might feel like fireworks would appropriately display their excitement, fireworks usually do not accompany the birth of a baby.

Baby Anastasia, born on New Year’s Day, had fireworks going off in the background as she was born.

Her parents, Tiffani Von Glahn and Carl Alewine, weren’t looking out of their hospital window to see the brilliant display.

They were in the center of the interstate. As you may have guessed, this was not the parents’ location of choice for where Anastasia would be born.

Von Glahn’s pregnancy was labeled high-risk. The mother was told that her baby’s positioning wouldn’t allow for a vaginal delivery.

When she went into labor about three weeks earlier than expected, the pressure was on to get to the hospital. It would take about an hour to get from their home to the hospital.

The parents believed that Von Glahn needed a cesarean or else their daughter would get stuck during birth. Alewine was speeding to get to the hospital.

A police officer moved behind the car and tried to pull them over.

Alewine asked the laboring mom if she wanted him to pull over, but she was scared that their daughter was coming soon so she told him to continue driving.

The number of police cars and flashing lights behind them multiplied.

Law enforcement thought it was a car chase while the terrified parents believed they were doing what was best for their baby.

Exits were blocked off and police cars blocked them in. Alewine was handcuffed.

The officers supported Von Glahn as she gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Baby Anastasia weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces and was born around 1:00 a.m.

“I’m sitting there, watching her born on the hood of the car, fireworks going off in the background because it’s New Year’s, and then they let me out of handcuffs, and the cops started clapping and congratulating us,” Alewine told WCBD.

The baby girl is well-loved by her parents who let about 20 police cars chase them if it meant getting her to the place where they believed she needed to be safely born.

It turned out baby Anastasia had a more exciting entrance in mind, and Von Glahn was capable of birthing her daughter even in the middle of the interstate without complication.
