Elderly Woman Waits at Restaurant for Table for One. Suddenly, Young Man Gets Up, Points to Empty Seat

Share

Heather Leigh was out to lunch with three other people at the Mt. Clemens Grill. The restaurant was quickly becoming quite packed.

There were many groups standing at the front door hoping to get seated. There was an elderly woman waiting for a table, too.

This woman, however, was alone. She needed a table just for herself.

A young man must have noticed the elderly woman standing alone among the groups of people. The young man stood up and approached the elderly woman.

At this point, Leigh and the others at her table were watching the interaction between the young man and elderly woman with interest.

They could not believe what he he was about to say.

The young man told the woman that he had three empty seats at his table. He asked, “Would you like to sit with me so you don’t have to wait?”

The man then ushered the woman to his table. Leigh noted how instead of pulling out a chair for her across from him, he pulled out the chair right next to him.

Leigh wrote, “Cue the four of us at our table with our hearts MELTING.” Her group could not help but watch the two interact.

There were moments when the young man and elderly woman sat silently enjoying their meals.

There were other moments where they engaged comfortably in conversation.

Leigh drew a timely conclusion. She wrote, “With all the ridiculousness happening in our country, it was nice to see and be reminded that there are still good people out there.”

This story absolutely had my heart melting right along with Leigh. What an inspiring reminder to find these simple yet meaningful ways to connect with others.
