Fast Food Worker Sits Down Next to Disabled Man... Keep Your Eyes on His Hands
The typical mall food court is filled with hungry shoppers scattered among tables enjoying their meals or snacks. The actual food available for purchase is part of the mall food court experience.
It’s not only a good place to satisfy your hunger, but it’s also great for people watching. Most of the time, these observations are based on superficial factors.
You might examine what the mall-goers are wearing or eating. You could also take note of who they are with and their purchases as you form your own perception of who these strangers could be.
As interesting as people watching is, the scene of people eating in a food court is quite ordinary.
There are plenty of people we fail to notice who blend into the crowd of strangers in public places.
Laurinha Victoria’s walked into a mall food court in Salvador, Brazil, expecting nothing more than an ordinary experience. She left with tears in her eyes after witnessing an extraordinary moment between a fast-food worker and man who is disabled.
Victoria posted a video and description on Facebook of the event that led to her emotional and unforgettable experience right in the middle of a mall food court. A man with a disability “in his leg and arms” asked for her assistance.
When his food was ready from the Giraffas restaurant, he asked Victoria if she could bring it to him. She happily agreed to help, but as she stood up to do so, she realized somebody was stepping up to help the man above and beyond anybody’s expectations.
One of the fast-food chain’s employees not only brought the man his food, but he also sat down in the chair next to the man. The employee then cut the food and patiently fed it to the man.
The respect and compassion this employee showed to the man touched an overwhelming number of people. The video has 19 million views to date!
According to Google’s translation, Victoria wrote on Facebook, “I came to him and said, what a beautiful gesture you are having .. God bless you.”
Though people watching is a common practice in public places like a mall, there are moments that beg for more than observation. They give us a chance to act and make a difference in the life of another human being.
