Age 2 Boy with Brain Cancer Dies 'Peacefully in the Arms of His Mother'

Share

Christmas is a time of great wonderment for people of all ages. For one special little boy, it would be a holiday that not only would celebrate his life, but it would bring a community together.

Brody Allen, 2, was a tender and loving little boy who loved Christmas more than any other holiday, according to WKRC.

Brody, unfortunately, would only be alive for a few magical Christmas moments. But the outpouring of love from his community would be enough to provide the holiday spirit long after he was gone.

Brody had terminal brain cancer but loved Christmas so much, his family asked for some help to bring Christmas to him in the most spectacular way.

In August, the boy was only given two months to live, so his community in Colerain Township, Ohio, just outside Cincinnati, stepped up to bring him Christmas a little earlier this year.

What started as just a little help soon exploded into a full-blown Christmas celebration that would rival any family’s traditions.

From Christmas decorations to a holiday parade and carolers, Brody was able to have one last Christmas before his death.

The boy passed away Friday morning from his brain cancer, peacefully in his mother’s arms.

Do you think Brody's story is inspirational?

Todd Allen, Brody’s father, made the announcement that Brody had passed on the Team Brody Facebook page just after 11:30 a.m. Friday.

In the post, Todd shared that Brody had died, “quietly and peacefully in the arms of his mother, Shilo.”

“He did not suffer,” the post read. “He was surrounded by his family, and I have no doubt many angels. While our sadness is immeasurable and we will miss his smiling, beautiful soul, we are also comforted in knowing that today our son has touched the face of God. Today, heaven welcomed home our little superhero. Fly high little man. Until we see you again. We love you.”

Losing the young boy was heartbreaking for the global supporters who came out to give Brody a Merry Christmas, and send letters from all over the world.

“To have so many people across the world reach out to my son and to tell him ‘Merry Christmas,’ ‘We love you,’ ‘We’re thinking about you,’ it’s just the greatest gift that I, as a father, could never give him,” Todd wrote on Facebook to supporters of his son in September.

The Colerain Township Police Department helped set up a memorial for Brody where supporters could reflect and remember the little boy.

Brody not only had the heart to bring together a community, but he had the strength to bring the spirit of Christmas to everyone he crossed paths with.

This little boy showed that the magic of Christmas can happen any time of year, it just takes a little human spirit to care and give to someone else.

Little Brody, we will miss you. We wish you a Merry Christmas and know you will be shining down on all of us.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Brody for donations in lieu of flowers and gifts. Funeral arrangements were being finalized.
