Video: Watch Grandpa Tap Dance with Sweet Little Granddaughter
While the bond between any grandpa and granddaughter is undeniable, this dynamic duo will certainly dance their way into your hearts.
Maeve, a 10-year-old sweetheart, is a talented tap dancer. With an upcoming summer recital on her hands, she wanted a performance that would outdo all others, and by all accounts, she nailed it.
She asked her grandfather, 72-year-old Bill Jones to dance with her, and the two created a spectacular performance that was heartwarming as well as entertaining.
Jones, a San Diego zookeeper, and little Maeve are a team that comes from generations of family tap dancers, according to WHDH. Maeve is a fifth-generation tap dancer taking after her beloved grandfather.
To get ready for the recital, the two practiced an hour a week for six weeks at From the Top Dance Center in Reading, Massachusetts, where Maeve learns her moves.
With hours of practice under their belts, the pair was finally ready to put their feet to work and wow the crowd at the recital.
The two were literally showstoppers as they tapped, kicked, and clapped before the crowd.
“It’s crazy,” Maeve Jones told WHDH. “My mom says my grandfather loves to dance, and I asked him if he wanted to do a tap duel with me, and we did it. And it’s amazing.”
Jiving to the music, Maeve and Jones tapped in sync, and each had their own solo moments in the spotlight.
The end of the performance held a very special surprise as Maeve ended it with a perfect cartwheel.
Not to be outdone, Jones followed with his own cartwheel, showing that he still has the skill to keep up with his little granddaughter.
At the end of the song, Jones kissed Maeve on the forehead, making the moment even more touching and personal.
The pair was so impressive that they were invited to dance on “Good Morning America” — something we are sure was an experience of a lifetime for the two.
This is one dancing grandpa that still has the kicks and taps even at 72-years-old.
We know that Maeve and Jones will continue their family tradition of tap dancing. We hope to see another performance by this talented duo.
