Granny Gets 'Arrested,' Spends 93rd Birthday in the Back of Cop Car

Share

When Simone Dumont turned 93 years old, she got a birthday surprise that may have been more than she bargained for, according to KMPH.

Simone’s daughter, Anne Dumont, arranged to have her mom arrested by the Augusta Police Department.

As a lover of the popular TV series “Cops,” this was the perfect gift for Simone.

“On July 9, 2018, Mom got arrested. Yep, arrested” Anne said in a Facebook post. “I told you guys that she was the bad one, but you didn’t believe me!!”

“The real story? I had pre-arranged for the police to come and ‘gently arrest’ her,” Anne wrote.

Anne worked with the local police to come and take the 93-year-old grandma away.

Through the arrest, Simone got the chance to see the inside of a police car. She also had the rare opportunity to push the siren button — a lifelong dream of the grandmother.

Simone also got to see the police in action and feel what it is like to be arrested.

Would you want to be arrested for your birthday?

Of course, no handcuffs were involved in the arrest and Simone didn’t resist being taken into custody by the police.

The police “gently” arrested Simone and supplied her with an official Augusta Police junior officer decal.

“(Simone) turned 93 on July 7th. Mom loves to watch the show Cops. She goes on about how the police have the worse job and what they have to deal with ….. and she wondered what it was like to be arrested and sit in the back seat…

“So see, yes, that’s where the idea came from so its her own fault,” Anne joked on Facebook.

The local police were more than happy to comply with the request to surprise Simone and give her a birthday gift she’ll never forget.

The Augusta Police posted on Facebook about the event saying, “Thanks for sharing your story with us. We were very proud to have been invited.”

“Thank you, Officer P. Doody. You are now referred to by her as ‘her cop,'” Anne said about a picture of her mom and Officer P. Doody hugging.

Happy Birthday, Simone! We hope your next birthday doesn’t wind you up behind bars (unless that’s what you want for your next police adventure).
