Police Officer Spots Little Boy Playing Alone in Cold, Stops Car To Play Catch
Police officers are here to protect and serve. But sometimes their responsibilities step a little outside the norm.
For one Tennessee police officer, it was a generous act that stole the heart of a watchful mother, Beth, and her 14-year-old son Caden, according to WZTV.
This police officer did the unexpected for her son, and Beth will always be appreciative of the kind act.
On a cold and blustery day, Caden was playing outside his home in Old Hickory all alone. But soon he would find that he would make a surprising new friend.
In a total display of kindness, a Nashville Metro Police officer pulled over to have an impromptu game of football with the boy in Brandywine Farms.
The call wasn’t part of his duties, but it offered the opportunity to have a little fun for both of them.
The police officer asked Caden if he wanted to play some ball and two began an unlikely game of catch.
Beth recorded the moment from the window, with no doubt a smile on her face as she saw the two toss the ball while the officer gave her son plenty of encouragement the entire time.
The police officer threw the long passes that Caden caught with ease. The two exchanged several throws that day, playing for a full 10 minutes.
Beth didn’t find out the name of the police officer right away as he pulled away before she got a chance to thank him.
But she took to Facebook to thank the mystery officer, simply writing, “I posted the video because I was so touched by it that I had to share, and I also wanted to tell him thank you.”
Beth eventually found that the police officer that played football with her son was Officer Graham. She even knew his wife, and they too have a son named Caden.
“I am so glad so many people are seeing this video and are as touched by it as I am,” Beth told WZTV.
Just stopping to make a boy happy can go a long way in enforcing the respect and kindness of those that choose to serve on the police force.
