Superintendent Covers Backstreet Boys Song To Let Students Know School Closed for Snow Day
Snow days are nothing new in the Midwest, but sometimes they come with a musical twist.
When Missouri Valley Community School District in Iowa issued a snow day for students and teachers on Friday, the superintendent had a special way of announcing it, according to KCCI.
Brent Hoesing took to the microphone and sang a little ditty that would get students and teachers in the mood for some fun – snow fun.
Using the Backstreet Boys ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)’ as the melody, Hoesing dubbed some lyrics to go right along with the tune.
If this little hit didn’t put a smile on the faces of the students and teachers of the Missouri Valley school than pretty much nothing would.
Complete with sunglasses to set the mood, Hoesing hit the high notes as well as the low singing along to the popular 1997 boy group tune.
The best of the song came with the original-written melody by Hoesing as he sang, “Everybody, yeah.
“School’s closed Friday, yeah.
“Everybody, yeah, the snow is near tonight.
“So, Hoesing’s back, alright!”
Throughout the tune, Hoesing bobs along to the music that no doubt put student and teachers in a dancing mood.
This is not the first time that Hoesing took to the mic, though — he has delivered classic pop song renditions every time there is a school delay or closure.
He’s performed to ‘Ice, Ice, Baby’ by Vanilla Ice, changing it ‘Ice, Ice, Tuesday’ and ‘Let It Go,’ the popular theme song to Disney’s ‘Frozen’ movie. That song was altered to ‘There is no (school on Thursday anyone).’
He records each performance and uploads it to YouTube, so not only the students of Missouri Valley can enjoy the songs but others can too.
“The reason I do it is just to make people smile, get the kids excited about coming to school,” Hoesing told The Daily Nonpareil last year.
“My favorite comments are when people go online and say, ‘Missouri Valley schools must be awesome,’” he added.
He’s made at least 10 videos for YouTube, where he’s featured singing a classic pop song.
We love the way Hoesing chose to inform — or rather sing to — the students of Missouri Valley, we just wish he’d let “Everybody know when there is a snow day, alright!”
