Radio Station Gives Pregnant Mom Thousands of Dollars After Husband Abandons Her
Life was finally beginning to look up for Amanda of Sydney, Australia. 2017 was going to be a great year — full of love, happiness, and hope for the future.
After three long years of attempting to get pregnant, Amanda and her husband were finally expecting a child. They had also just moved into the house they had been saving up for and renovating for the past two years.
Indeed, Amanda could not have been happier about what her future had in store. But then in an instant, her life and her future came crashing down in a thunderous and disastrous way.
Her husband unexpectedly told her he was leaving and was out the door in a flash. Just like that, Amanda was left on her own, eight months pregnant and in debt from her house.
With no income and a baby arriving any time, Amanda was left all alone, heartbroken and at a loss for what would happen to her and her child.
Thankfully, her friend Anna was by her side and had an unorthodox idea: she would write to the local radio station, KIIS 1065, and ask their consideration for a spot in their “Giveback” segment.
When the radio station learned of Amanda’s situation, they knew they needed to step in and help. But they could not do it alone and so they enlisted the help of some local businesses.
Amanda had no idea what was in store when she and Anna were invited onto the local radio show. As she spoke to the radio hosts, she explained how the worst part of her situation was the uncertainty of it all.
“It’s been about five weeks since it happened,” Amanda said through tears. “And the biggest thing is just the shock, I guess because it wasn’t really what we planned, or what I planned.”
After Amanda had finished explaining her story, the radio hostess turned around to face the television screen behind her. On it was a video of her new house.
The cameraman went on a tour, highlighting several items that did not belong to Amanda. As they were pointed out, the hostess explained all of the wonderful gifts people had given Amanda.
A vacuum cleaner symbolized free home cleanings for the next six months; food in the refrigerator was a gift from Eat Fit Food with the commitment to bring daily meals for the next three months so she would not need to worry about groceries; and on the counter was $4,000 AUD worth of baby supplies for the new mother, including a $1,000 AUD voucher for baby pictures.
But no one could have expected what came when the camera settled on the oven and the door was opened.
Inside of the oven was a large stack of cash: $10,000 AUD so that Amanda would not have to worry about her mortgage right away.
With tears streaming down her face, all Amanda could say was “It means I don’t have to move now … I can’t thank you enough, I really can’t.”
While it was certainly not the year she had originally envisioned having, the generosity of so many strangers made it possible for Amanda to hold onto her dream home and her dream of raising her child there.
