Couple Learns of the Incredible Coincidence that Occurred on Day They Were Each Born
Finding your soulmate in the technology age has become increasingly difficult for young adults.
Instead of meeting people organically, many turn to dating apps such as Tinder where all you have to do is swipe left or right to find your perfect match.
Although the mere thought of that gives me extreme anxiety, there are couples who have found love and happiness through the process.
One Louisiana couple who met on the dating app Tinder found out that something incredibly coincidental occurred on their birthdays.
Jamie and Anthony Burkett had no idea that when they swiped right on each other’s Tinder profile in June 2015 that they were born on the same day in the same hospital.
The two exchanged phone numbers and made plans to go on a date, but then Jamie noticed the coincidence in the numbers that made up Anthony’s email address.
The email address contained the numbers 1-14-93, which corresponded with her birthday.
“I asked him and he’s like, ‘Yeah, that’s my birthday,” Jamie said. “I was just kind of like stunned for a minute. I was like, ‘That’s my birthday too.'”
While it is coincidental that the two shared a birthday, it is not uncommon. According to the Independent, people usually share their birthday with around 19 million other people.
What is uncommon, though, is that Jamie and Anthony were born in the same hospital on the same day.
“Born on the same day in the same area, so I had to ask, ‘Well, where were you born?” Anthony said. “She told me she was born at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana, and I froze.”
The now newly-weds were born in the same maternity ward just under seven hours apart — Anthony was born at 11:35 a.m. and Jamie was born at 6 p.m.
“I’m sure we were in the nursery together,” Jamie said. “It’s just crazy.”
During their first date, they also learned that they are both left-handed. Lefties only make up about 10 percent of the population, according to HuffPost.
The couple tied the knot on April 14, 25 years after the two were in the nursery together, and the two strongly believe their similar beginnings were more than just coincidence.
“We’re Christian and we really feel like there is an element of fate at work. I don’t believe it was just a coincidence,” Jamie said.
Anthony added, “It does feel like fate. Everything kind of aligned, it’s really remarkable.”
