Pregnant Wife Loses Firefighter Husband. After Birth of Son, Posts Heartbreaking Photo
Fallen heroes are remembered in a variety of different ways. Sometimes statues are built in their memory and other times signs are hung.
From marines to firefighters, those who die in the line of duty should be honored by their communities.
But when that hero is your spouse, it is harder to move on and try to keep your head up.
Their memory will forever live in our hearts.
That’s the reality Jennifer Dickey faces after her firefighter husband, Jason, was killed on Feb. 12 in the line of duty.
His wife, at the time, was expecting a child and has since given birth to a healthy baby boy.
Jennifer, however, has found the perfect way to commemorate her husband’s legacy, by dressing up their newborn son.
The heartbreaking photo was first posted by the Lawrenceburg Fire Department as “a new addition to our family.”
Kallon Knox Dickey was born on March 12 and, according to the fire chief, mother and son are doing just fine.
Jason Dickey died after a house fire collapse in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.
Jason and a few other firefighters were trapped underneath the collapsed roof and were later rescued, but sadly Jason did not survive.
“We lost a hero,” fire Chief Jay Moore said. “We lost a man. He saved several lives in his 11-year career.
“He was a very strong individual, a very long individual, and a very caring person. He was like one of my own, I’ve lost one of my boys. We ask for your prayers and the public’s prayers.”
Jason is survived by Jennifer, their daughters (who are 16 and two), their 11-year-old son, and now their newborn.
