Billy Graham Revealed to Reporter What He Wanted 1st Line of Obituary to Say
Billy Graham passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at the age of 99. He was in his home in Montreat, North Carolina, surrounded by his family.
Graham’s viewing will take place on Feb. 28, and he will be the U.S. Capitol Rotunda until Thursday, March 1.
The private funeral, which will reportedly be attended by 2,300 people, will be held on March 2 in front of the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina.
As an evangelist, Graham was clear that no person escapes death. It is an unavoidable fact of humanity, and it is important to be ready for it.
Graham’s words taught us to live our life with purpose. He one said, “I urge each of you to invest your lives, not just spend them.
“Each of us is given the exact same amount of seconds, minutes and hours per day as anyone else.
“The difference is how we redeem [them]. … You cannot count your days, but you can make your days count.”
In interviews, he was often asked many questions about death. But during one interview in particular, a reporter asked Graham what he wanted his own obituary to say.
David Frost, who held many interviews with Graham, asked this particular question. Graham answered, “That he was faithful and that he had integrity.”
Graham continued, “And that I was faithful to my calling, and that I loved God with all mind, heart and soul.”
Later on in this interview, he asked Graham if he had any questions for God. Graham replied, “Yes, thousands. Many things in Bible mysteries.”
“Some things in my life I would be embarrassed if anyone else saw. I would like God to edit the film,” he added.
Graham must have been referring to the idea that we will watch a film of our life with God, once we get to Heaven.
Personally, I think God will be so excited with the work there is to do beyond the pearly gates, that this life will be a mere blip in comparison.

He left a truly remarkable legacy for his family to continue to enjoy and work towards, for generations.
