Share

It seems Americans have some serious royal family envy! While we admonish our love of our governmental system, the glamour of the royal family never ceases to capture our attention.

The first royal wedding in my lifetime was the union of Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29, 2011. How spectacularly exciting it is to have another one just a few years later!

Prince Henry and Meghan Markle revealed more details about their wedding today, Monday Feb. 12.

Kensington Palace released a statement chronicling details for those who wish to stand along the processional route and catch a glimpse of the newest royal couple.

The date of the wedding, May 19, had previously been released. But the location, time, and processional route had been long awaited by thousands with baited breath.

The press release states, “The Wedding Service will begin at St George’s Chapel at 1200. The Dean of Windsor, The Rt Revd. David Conner, will conduct the Service.

“The Most Revd. and Rt Hon. Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, will officiate as the couple make their marriage vows.”

I’m sure scores of people cannot wait to see the dress Meghan has chosen for her special day. But, of course, the service will be beautiful and edifying as well.

Immediately following the service, the couple will process along a route through Windsor, ending at the Long Walk.

The release says, “They hope this short journey will provide an opportunity for more people to come together around Windsor and to enjoy the atmosphere of this special day.”

I’m sure a multitude of people will turn out to wish the couple well in their newly minted marriage state.

Oh, to see the carriage drive by with the couple waving must be quite the thrill.

Following the wedding service, there will be two receptions.

The release says, “there will be a reception at St George’s Hall for the couple and guests from the congregation. The couple will join this on return from the Carriage Procession.”

After the official reception, there will be a private one for friends and family, hosted by the Prince of Wales. I’m sure the couple will enjoy some relaxation at the end of such a long day!

But, really, who could ask for a better reason to get dressed up and fancy? It’s the Royal Wedding! The whole world round rejoices!
