Dad Trapped Under Car, Crushing His Chest. But Then 8-Year-Old Son Says 'Angels' Gave Him Strength

A young boy is being praised for his quick thinking after saving his father’s life when a car fell on top of him.

It all began when Stephen Parker and his two sons, Mason and J.T., began working on a car in their backyard. The car had been so heavy that both Stephen and Mason (then 17 years old) needed to work together to jack it up.

After a few minutes of work, Mason cut himself and went inside the house, leaving J.T., then just 8 years old, outside. Stephen remained underneath the car, attempting to fix the car’s axle.

Suddenly, the jack gave out, and the car fell. Stephen was pinned underneath, unable to breathe. “I was totally trapped,” he recalled.

J.T. was on the other side of the car, unable to see his father. Stephen explained, “I didn’t know if I should yell out to him because I didn’t want him to feel the pressure if he couldn’t jack it up. I didn’t want him to think it was his fault if I died.”

At the brink of consciousness, however, Stephen finally called out to his son. J.T. immediately realized the severity of the situation.

The rest, Stephen said, is a blank. “I wasn’t there anymore because I had this nice calm peaceful feeling.”

Now aware that something had gone horribly wrong, J.T. sprung into action. Although it had taken both his father and older brother to lift the car, J.T. began jumping up and down on the jack.

Despite weighing only 50 pounds at the time, he lifted the car in a matter of minutes. “It was scary, and I didn’t think that I could jack the car up, but I just kept on trying,” he later said.

When asked to repeat the feat today, however, he simply cannot do it. He believes angels helped him in his moment of need.

Stephen is also convinced a higher power was at work that day. Reflecting on the experience, he said, “It made me realize that we are not alone. There is a higher power taking care of us and watching over us.”
