Employee Fights Off Masked Gunman Attempting Robbery. Looks Closer, Realizes Who It Is

Share

Anyone who works a cash register fears a robbery. Recently, one pizzeria was attacked by an armed gunman, creating a situation noteworthy for several reasons.

A pizzeria in Massachusetts made news when a masked man came in. Gun in hand, he jumped the counter and demanded money out of the register.

Employee Trevor Kosla recounted the frightening moment to WHDH.

“He jumped over the counter and had the gun pointed at my friend’s head while choking him against the wall,” he recalled.

Kosla, however, was not going to let this armed intruder get away without a fight. Making a decision to act, Kosla grabbed the gunman around the neck and forced him to the ground.

While the gunman initially escaped Kosla’s grasp, he was tackled again in the pizzeria lobby. It was then that the pizzeria employees noticed something odd.

According to WHDH, “Kosla said the suspect addressed him by name and when he looked at him, Kosla realized the suspect was his former manager.”

Their former manager, identified as Sean Coulson, had been fired in 2017 for inappropriate behavior.

“He kept yelling at me to stop, that it was a joke. I said, ‘I don’t care who you are, this is not a joke,’” Kosla told WHDH.

The police agreed with Kosla that Coulson’s actions were anything but humorous.

Although the gun waved by Coulson turned out to be fake, that didn’t keep him out of trouble.

According to the Telegram & Gazette, “He was charged with armed robbery while masked, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, three counts of assault and battery and other charges.”

While the police commend Kosla for his bravery, they don’t recommend others do the same. “We don’t want people putting their lives at risk,” Sgt. Recos told the Telegram & Gazette.

For his part, Kosla doesn’t believe his actions were heroic.

As he told the Telegram & Gazette, “I wouldn’t say I’m a hero by any means. I just did what I had to do and what I felt was right.”

Thanks to Kosla’s bravery, this would-be robber was brought to justice. What do you think of his actions?
