Meghan Markle Ignores Tradition with Fashion Choice to Royal Event
Meghan Markle has been turning heads ever since it was announced she and Prince Harry were dating.
Now that they’re engaged, she more than turns heads — she makes headlines!
Recently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited Reprezent 107.3FM, a local radio station. It was their first official outing of 2018.
Reprezent has long been involved in a philanthropic mission. According to Rare, the pair wanted “to learn about how the station is appealing to young people while also teaching them more about music, radio and broadcast media.”
Reprezent is known for helping youth escape crime.
As Kensington Palace noted on Twitter, “The Reprezent training programme was established in 2008 in response to an alarming rise in knife crime, to help young people develop and socialise through radio.”
Despite the philanthropic aims of the couple’s visit, some people were focused on something else. More specifically — Meghan’s hair!
During her visit to Reprezent, Meghan avoided the highly-coiffed style frequented by the Royal Family.
Instead, her hair was worn up in a messy, casual bun.
Many Royal watchers are noting that Meghan’s choice of hairstyle is yet another indication she is planning to make her own rules. When appearing for the first time as Prince Harry’s fiancée, she surprised onlookers by not wearing stockings, something aristocratic women always wear.
According to PEOPLE, the fact that Meghan carries an over-sized purse is yet another indicator of Meghan’s tendency to dodge formal tradition.
Not surprisingly, many people seized this opportunity to compare her to her future sister-in-law.
Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is known for never having a hair out of place. The word “casual” is almost never used to describe her.
Of course, being married to the future king does mean that Kate has to adhere closely to tradition.
Meghan Markle, on the other hand, has a bit more freedom to express her individuality.
Royal watchers note that her “messy” bun is reflective of Meghan’s laid-back Californian style. Looks like she’s already bringing a breath of fresh air to Kensington Palace!
