Kate Middleton Pens Letter To Old University, Releases Rare Photos From Royal Collection
She wasn’t always a member of the royal family, but from the time speculation mounted that she would be, Catherine Middleton has been gathering fans and hearts worldwide.
The brunette beauty met “her prince” while attending the University of St. Andrews. Married to Prince William in 2011, Catherine Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge, has been busy with royal duties and being a wife and mother.
The royal couple is expecting their third child in April 2018.
The influence of the Duchess has been noted worldwide, particularly in fashion. In 2012 Time magazine even listed her among their “100 Most Influential People in the World.”
One of the things Kate, as she is more commonly known, does is serve as Patron of the Gallery for the National Portrait Gallery.
A new exhibit, “Victorian Giants: The Birth of Art Photography” is of particular interest to the art history major who wrote a letter that serves as a foreword for the exhibition catalog.
According to Yahoo! Finance, she explained part of the reason for her special interest in this exhibit, “As a student at the University of St. Andrews, I chose it as the subject of my undergraduate thesis and photographs of children in particular, which feature predominantly within the exhibition, are of real interest to me.”
“These photographs allow us to reflect on the importance of preserving and appreciating childhood while it lasts.”
She elaborated, “Children held a special place in the Victorian imagination and were celebrated for their seemingly boundless potential. This notion still rings true for us today and it underpins much of my official work and the charities I have chosen to support, and, indeed, my role as a mother of a young family.”
Many articles have been written about the young royal family and many photos published of them interacting, often as normal parents, with their children. Children and family have been primary themes that have encompassed most things written about the young royals.
Like all other royal comings and goings, the news of Middleton’s involvement with the exhibit was officially announced by Kensington Palace. Although brief, their statement did mention her letter, as well other participation in the exhibit.
Kensington Palace stated in their tweet that Kate also wrote “captions for selected images in the exhibition that will form the Gallery’s first ever Patron’s Trail.” They also announced that she would be making an official visit to the exhibit on February 28, 2018.
Hello Magazine wrote that the Duchess of Windsor has referred to herself as an “enthusiastic amateur photographer,” while Yahoo! Finance noted that she “has showcased her love for photography over the years by snapping photos of her son Prince George and daughter Princess Charlotte, which have been officially released by Kensington Palace.”
If her track record thus far is any indication, the birth of her third child will not slow the royal down. She is sure to have a whole new batch of lovely photos of her brood to share with the world as she continues to follow her passion while also fulfilling her many roles.
