101-Year-Old Woman Celebrates Birthday Every Year at Taco Bell for Heartwarming Reason

Share

An Illinois woman just celebrated her 101st birthday at her local Taco Bell and the reason why is simply heartwarming.

Have you ever met someone and thought to yourself, “Wow, I want to be like you when I grow up!” Well, I’ve never met Ms. Ruth Parker, but her love of tacos and coffee now serve as an inspiration to me.

She first visited her local, Cabondale Taco Bell location 18 years ago.

She just wanted to find a place to drink her coffee and read her newspaper. She had just recently moved from Florida.

Ms. Ruth didn’t realize that coffee wasn’t a normal item on the fast food Mexican restaurant’s menu, but an employee went out and got some instant coffee for her to enjoy anyway.

“They were just so nice to me that I’ve been coming back ever since,” she told KFVS.

Ever since that small act of kindness, Ms. Ruth has frequented that same location twice a week, every Tuesday and Friday.

She’s pretty sure that she’s tried every item on the menu, but her current favorite is the limited edition nacho fries that have developed somewhat of a cult following.

“They are delicious,” she declared.

Since the Taco Bell has been such a large part of her life, she also began spending her birthdays there.

This year was no different. Ms. Ruth and some of her friends gathered with balloons and, of course, some delicious tacos to celebrate the sweet 101-year-old’s life.

Included in the crowd was store manager, Rebecca Gefro.

“No matter what, we all know Ms. Ruth and we all make her a part of our lives and talk to her,” Gefro said. “We just love her to death.”

The team is already looking forward to celebrating Ms. Ruth’s 102nd birthday next year.

Gefro said, “We’ll see her at 102 next year and we’ll make it even bigger!”
