7-Year-Old's Prayers Answered When Soldier Dad Walks Down Hallway After Year-Long Deployment

Share

Seven-year-old Jean-Paul and 9-year-old Andre Nunez had been praying for over a year for God to bring their Navy dad home safely. Now they know without a shadow of a doubt that God listens and answers prayer.

Sacrifice is a huge part of going into the military. Leaving behind family and loved ones is something that these brave men and women do in order to help keep our country protected.

Many times, however, we forget just how much sacrifice the family has to go through as well. There are thousands of families across the country, like the Nunez family, that adjust to life without a parent or child for a period of time.

Both of the Nunez brothers had been missing their father deeply, so they began to pray that God would bring him home safely. According to USA Today, Andre (sounds like Andrew in the video) especially had been struggling with his father’s absence and had been battling intense separation anxiety.

So when Navy E-6 MA1 Jose Nunez had been deployed overseas for over a year and received confirmation that he could go home, he knew he wanted to surprise his precious boys.

Luckily, the heartwarming reunion was caught on camera.

Jean-Paul was sitting in the hallway with his classmates when his mother, Ximena Nunez, starting asking about what they had been praying for.

“Papi, do you remember everything we’ve been praying for lately?” she asked.

He simply and joyfully responded, “Daddy!”

“For Daddy to come home? Well, guess what?” Ximena said. “God listened.”

As she finished her answer, Jose walked from behind a corner to give his little boy the first hug since his deployment began.

Then Jose went into the cafeteria to surprise his older son.

Andre was sitting with his back facing the door so when his younger brother told him to turn around; he could hardly believe that a familiar and deeply missed face was there.

He jumped up and gave his father the biggest hug he could muster up, tears rolling down his face.

Little Jean-Paul proudly exclaimed, “Andre, it’s because God listened to us!”

Then two boys, along with their 3-year-old brother, Nick, were able to spend some long-awaited time to catch up with their hero.
