Audience Left in Panic When Trapeze Duo Has Terrifying Fall During 'AGT' Act
The trapeze couple known as Duo Transcend performed for a second time on the latest episode of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”
Mary Ellen Wolfe and Tyce Nielsen’s first performance amazed the audience with amazing, death-defying acts.
Three of the four judges voted “yes” which was enough to send them on to the next round. Mel B. was the only one who voted against them going forward.
“I have to be really honest. There were a few tricks in there that did make me go, ‘Wow!’ But I wasn’t wow-ed enough,” the judge said. Luckily for Duo Transcend, they only needed three positive votes to move forward.
They took Mel B.’s criticism to heart as they prepared their next performance by adding even more nail-biting moments into their act.
The judges were sitting on pins and needles the entire time, but once Nielsen pulled down a blindfold over his eyes the judges became instantly anxious for what was about to happen.
Even though he revealed that he had impaired eye vision at the beginning of their first performance, there’s no denying that completely blindfolding himself is a bold move.
As the couple set themselves up for the grand finale of their act, nervous exclamations continued to come from both the judges and the audience.
Wolfe dropped, trusting her husband to catch her by her feet, but that’s not what happened. She continued to fall down to the ground as Nielsen desperately tried to catch his wife.
Screams and gasps filled the room.
Nielsen, still blindfolded and hanging upside down on the trapeze bar, immediately asked if she was okay. Wolfe stood up and waved to let everyone know she hadn’t seriously injured herself.
The audience immediately applauded.
Wolfe, however, was not satisfied. Once the applause broke she said, “We would like to try the blindfold trick one more time.”
The judges immediately discouraged them from trying again, but Howie Mandel did later commend her for her persistence.
Guest judge Ken Jeong said, “It’s not ‘America’s Got Perfection.’ This is ‘America’s Got Talent.’ No one can do this. I mean, it’s okay. It’s okay.”
Simon Cowell also encouraged them that even though they didn’t successfully complete their last trick, that most of the singers that come on the show also don’t sing every note perfectly.
“It still doesn’t make them not amazing; it makes them human,” he further explained. “The consequences on this are slightly worse than falling off key whereas you nearly broke your neck. And the fact that you’re nearly blind makes this incredible.”
Mel B. only sung praises of the couple’s performance. “You both did take my advice. You stepped up your game higher than I could ever have expected! Ever.”
The encouragement from the judges brought the couple to tears. There’s no doubt that there are more amazing things to come from Duo Transcend on this season of “America’s Got Talent.”
