Dad’s Handwritten Letter Begs Public To Help Investigators Find His Missing Daughter

Share

A ‘very distraught’ father sent the LA County Sheriff’s Department a handwritten letter pleading with anyone that could help investigators find his missing 31-year-old daughter to come forward.

On July 29, 2019, authorities responded to a report of domestic violence at a California residence owned by Robert Camou. When they arrived, neither Camou, 27, nor his girlfriend, Amanda Custer, were there.

There were, however, signs of assault in the home, including blood.

The couple had been dating for about two years, but their relationship was not a peaceful one; Lt. Scott Hoglund clarified that authorities had responded to multiple domestic violence reports within those two years.

Investigators believe that Camou placed Custer in the trunk of his gray Toyota Prius and drove toward Mount Baldy outside of San Bernardino.

“Although the extent of Victim Custer’s injuries are unknown, Homicide Detectives believe she may be in grave danger,” Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the LASD wrote in a press release.

Just hours before Camou was arrested by police in connection to Custer’s disappearance, video footage shows Camou at the King Eddy Saloon during their open mike night rapping about killing and burying a woman.

“I killed my b—- and buried that b—- in the f—ing dirt,” he rapped before mentioning that the police were looking for him and that he needed to stop, according to KTLA.

“I think that everyone in the bar that heard him kinda stopped,” Michael Moore, who took the video footage, told KTLA. “Time just stopped. And there were some hardcore rappers up in there, and they stopped.”

Authorities found Camou sleeping in the back seat of his Prius early Tuesday morning, less than a mile away from the bar and used tear gas to motivate him to surrender. Custer was not in the car with him.

Michael Moore is sure that the man police arrested was the same man in his video.

Camou is currently being held without bail on “unrelated burglary and domestic violence charges.”

Investigators said on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, that Custer’s father, Rick, flew to Los Angeles to help in the search for his missing daughter, including writing a heartbreaking, handwritten note that asks for the public’s help.

“This is coming from Rick Custer, the dad of Amanda Custer,” he wrote on Aug. 4. “I and the rest of her family are asking anybody in the Mt. Baldy and Lytle Creek areas to be aware of your surroundings and keep your eyes open at this time, as we are all still searching for Amanda. We believe she disappeared in this area…”

“We are pleading with anybody who might help to report it, as we are very distraught, and need to bring our Amanda home.”

If you have any information that could help investigators find Amanda Custer please contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department at (323) 890-5500 or make an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS(8477).
