Even Service Dogs Think Disney is the Happiest Place on Earth. These Photos Prove It

Share

Is it possible to add any more happiness to the “happiest place on earth?” Maybe … if you add dogs!

These pictures of service dogs on their Disneyland field trip will absolutely make your heart melt! The dogs are in the middle of their training from a nonprofit based out of Santa Rosa, California called Canine Companion for Independence.

The dogs go through an intense training process where they learn to master over 40 commands. Their training starts when the puppies are as young as 8 weeks old. They go live with a “volunteer puppy raiser” who provides a stable home, takes them to basic training classes, and ensures a healthy diet.

After they grow up a little bit, they go back to a CCI training center where they begin to be professionally trained. CCI trains four different kinds of assistance dogs: service dogs, hearing dogs, skilled companions and facility dogs.

Once an applicant is approved for a service dog and is on the waiting list, the nonprofit will match them with an assistance dog free of charge.

As part of their training process, an adorable group of pups recently got to spend the day at Disneyland and California Adventures to meet some iconic characters.

Volunteer Laura Allen said, “It’s great socialization for the dogs. There are different sounds, people, kids.”

She said that she’s taken trainees to Disneyland for years, but has never gotten this much attention before.

Of course, no trip to Disneyland is complete without a pair of ears.

The dogs were able to meet many Disney characters like Pluto, Donald Duck, and Minnie Mouse. They even got to spend some time on the teacups!

“Meeting the characters was definitely a highlight of the trip for these puppies. The characters are so good with the dogs,” Allen said.

Allen told People, “All the puppies that attended handled Disneyland like pros.” It really is “the happiest place on earth” even for these precious dogs!
