Little Girl Sells All Her Toys on Sidewalk To Raise Money for Homeless
A kindhearted girl in Manchester, England, is warming hearts with her sidewalk fundraiser to help the homeless.
Emma Goss recently became so upset about all of the homeless people in her city. Instead of just lamenting the unfortunate situation, the 9-year-old girl decided to come up with an idea to help.
She didn’t have a large platform to announce it, but she eventually decided to sell many of her own belongings to raise as much money as possible.
Dolls, stuffed animals, shoes and clothes were all carefully laid out on the sidewalk in front of her house. Her parents also donated a few more items to help build her inventory.
She even hand-painted a sign that said, “Raising money for the homeless” to grab potential customers’ attention.

The selfless girl then sat and waited for her first customer. She, unfortunately, struggled to make sales all day long until three law enforcement officers stumbled across Emma’s little shop.
They went back to the station and used a community fund, normally reserved for drinks, to purchase the first few items from this precious little girl.
The most special item that the officers bought was a wicker heart decoration that Emma suggested would “help spread some love around the station.”
Determined to help Emma make more sales, they then spread the word on the Greater Machester Police Middleton’s social media. They wanted to encourage people to stop by.
“People of Middleton, please if you see Emma and have a bit of spare change, take a look at some of her stuff and if you can help her with her fundraising,” they wrote.
Emma’s dad was delighted to see such strong support from the three officers. “It was brilliant. When I looked up the street and saw them I thought, ‘What are they doing here?’ And then I saw they were supporting her. I thought she was absolutely brilliant,” he told Manchester Evening News.
Sacha Lord, one of the owners of The Warehouse Project, saw the post on GMP Middleton’s account and decided help spread the word as well. He even encouraged people to take pictures as proof.
“Go down. Buy something off Emma…take a selfie as proof. Send it (sic) me. You’ll make her day for a good cause…” he wrote.
The responses were truly heartwarming.
Some people even brought items so that she could make more money.
“Lovely meeting the one and only-Emma! Raising money for a good cause hope more people take a trip down and contribute to her efforts
we donated money and decided to leave her with her items so she could re sell them and raise even more
,” Twitter user Naomiiii wrote.
By the end of the day, sweet Emma was able to raise just over $540 to donate to the Homeless Project Manchester. HPM is a group of individuals who serve homeless people on the streets of Manchester.
Emma’s nanna, Susan Ormrod, helps the organization regularly.
The Homeless Project Manchester was extremely thankful to see all of the support from Emma and the community.
“Emma is Amazing, raising money to buy essentials for our #homeless friends,” they tweeted.
The kind heart of this 9-year-old girl is truly inspiring! Not only did she see a need, but she also decided to take action, even encouraging others to get involved along with her.
