Tim Tebow's Mom Shares Incredible Moment She Refused Doctor's Order to Abort Her Son

Share

Heisman Trophy recipient and famous athlete Tim Tebow has often been bold in sharing about his faith — most notably by displaying bible verse references on his eye black — and often credits God for his successes.

But he also recognizes the impact that his mother’s faith has had on his life since before he was even born.

Tim Tebow’s father, Robert, was serving as a missionary in the Philippines when he became overwhelmed with grief because of the number of babies dying from abortion. As a result of his grief, he began to fervently pray for a son named Timmy so that he could raise him to share the life-giving message of the Gospel.

The rest of the Tebow family joined Robert in praying for Timmy and soon, Pam Tebow, then 37 years old, found out she was expecting.

Pam was considered high-risk because of her age and when she visited the doctor for the first time, Pam was told that she wasn’t carrying a baby but instead that she had “a mass of fetal tissue” that needed to be removed in order to save her own life.

“We didn’t really have to make a decision at that time,” she said during an interview with Focus on the Family. “We had made it years previous because we were determined to trust the Lord with the children that He would give us. And if God called me to give up my life, then He would take care of my family.”

Her pregnancy continued to be difficult and she thought she would lose Tim almost every day, but she continued to trust the Lord and He continued to sustain the pregnancy.

When Tim was finally born, the doctors in Manila discovered that the placenta was not properly attached during the entire pregnancy; his birth was truly a miracle!

Now, Pam shares her story to encourage other women to choose life for their unborn babies.

On April 27, 2019, she spoke at a fundraiser event for New Beginnings Mercy House in Monroe, Michigan — a Christian crisis pregnancy center that provides tangible needs for women so they can choose life for their babies.

The center’s website states, “We must show the women the love of Christ by offering a loving home and practical support in every aspect of their needs during this time of crisis.”

According to Monroe News, Mercy House helped birth 50-75 babies in 2018. In 2019, they have already helped with 18 births and one adoption.

Pam spoke at the event in hopes of showing how important it is to support Christian crisis pregnancy centers.

“It takes a lot of faith to stand for life today,” she said, according to Monroe News. “Abortion is everywhere and affects everyone. You’re exercising that big-faith muscle when you support this ministry.”

She shared her story and reiterated that God was faithful and took care of her family.

“He gives us so many opportunities to invest in heavenly things. We need to invest in pro-life organizations mainly because they save lives and invest in women and moms,” Pam said. “And we get a blessing, too.”

She also talked about all of the great accomplishments her son, Tim, wouldn’t have made if she had listened to the doctors during her first appointment.

She said, “We need to stand up for these special kids — they are a gift from the Lord.”

Pam shares more of her quiet and faithful journey in her new book, “Ripple Effects,” which is set to be released on May 7, 2019.
