Wife Dies in Crash on Way to Church, Husband Asking All Bikers To Help Finish the Ride

Share

On June 24, 2018, an Ohio man and his wife were riding his motorcycle to church. Due to tragic events, his wife died on the way. Now, on her birthday, he’s calling on the biker community to help him finish the ride.

Ray and Lynette Hess both loved motorcycles and Sunday, June 24th seemed like a perfect opportunity to ride their Harley to church.

As Ray was driving, Lynette said something that he wasn’t able to hear clearly at first. He turned his head to the side so he could hear her over the wind.

She repeated herself, “What a beautiful day for a ride.” He agreed and turned his head back toward the road.

When he turned around, he saw a car headed straight for them; the car had drifted into their lane.

He immediately swerved to the right in order to avoid the car, but as he did that he lost control of the bike.

“I didn’t finish that ride,” he said in a Facebook post.

Lynette died from crash-related injuries later that day.

Now, just before what would’ve been his wife’s birthday, Ray is calling on all bikers to come help him finish that ride. The ride is scheduled for Sunday, July 29, 2018.

He clarified that he is not asking for money, but just emotional support.

“My wife told me at a funeral she seen about 50 Harley’s leave, it made her hair stand up. I want every v-twin in Ross county to rumble heaven on that Sunday,” he wrote.

Ray said that he is expecting anywhere from 300 to 500 bikers to show up.

While he said the main idea is to finish that tragic ride, he revealed that there was one more reason he wanted to remember his wife in this way.

” Now the point is to finish my ride but also Lynette’s passion was to bring lost souls to Christ,” Ray wrote on Facebook. “Jump in your cars, trucks or horses and cone worship with us.”

“There’s a great chance there will only be standing room but help me honor my wife this last time,” he continued.

What a sweet way to honor his late wife! If you’re in the Salem, Ohio area and would like to participate, please refer to the details in Ray’s post.
