Scott Wilson

Actor Scott Wilson died of leukemia on Oct. 6, 2018, at the age of 76. During his expansive career, he appeared in over 50 movies, including “The Great Gatsby.” He also had a reoccurring role on “CSI” and was a star on the TV series “The Walking Dead.”

Celeste Yarnall

Actress Celeste Yarnall was known for her role on “Star Trek” and starring alongside Elvis Presley in the 1968 film “Live a Little, Love a Little.” She passed away on Oct. 7 at the age of 74.



Robert Bausch

Novelist Robert Bausch passed away of multiple myeloma on Oct. 9 at the age of 73. He was most notably known for his novel “Almighty Me,” which formed the basis for the 2003 film “Bruce Almighty” starring Jim Carrey and Jennifer Aniston.



Jim Taylor

Jim Taylor was a Hall of Fame fullback in the NFL. He played with the Green Bay Packers from 1958 to 1966, then with the New Orleans Saints in 1967. He passed away on Oct. 13, 2018, at the age of 83.

Paul Allen

Microsoft co-founder and owner of the Seatle Seahawks Paul G. Allen died on Oct. 15 at the age of 65. He passed away of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The matriarch behind the fashion brand Salvatore Ferragamo passed away at the age of 96 on Oct. 19. Wanda Ferragamo took over the business after her husband’s death in 1960. She turned the brand into a global empire.



Diana Sowle

Diana Sowle who memorably played Charlie Bucket’s mother in “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” died on Oct. 19 at the age of 88. Although her role in the film was small, many remember her angelic voice when she sang “Cheer Up Charlie” during the film.



Osamu Shimomura

Nobel Prize winner Osamu Shimomura died at the age of 90 on Oct. 19, 2018. The Japanese-born Marine biologist was also a survivor of the atomic blast that destroyed nearly half of Nagasaki.



James Karen

Actor James Karen who was known for his roles in “Frankenstein Meets the Spacemonster,” “Poltergeist,” and “Return of the Living Dead.” He was 94 years of age when he passed away on Oct. 23.

Tony Joe White

Country bluesman Tony Joe White was known for writing the hit songs “Polk Salad Annie” and “Rainy Night in Georgia.” He passed away on Oct. 24 at the age of 75.

Playwright and author Ntozake Shange passed away at the age of 70 on Oct. 27. Her 1975 influential play “For Colored Girls” was nominated for a Tony Award.



Willie McCovey

Baseball legend Willie McCovey died at age 80 on Oct. 31, 2018. McCovey was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame in 1986 after playing the bulk of his professional career for the San Francisco Giants.
