Woman Starts Crying When She Finds Late-Father's Old Truck at Car Lot: 'Like it Dropped from Heaven'

Share

In 2016, Kaleigh Seckendorf was devastated after her father took his own life. The loss was overwhelming to the family.

The firefighter left his beloved bright red truck to his daughter after his passing. “This truck is very special to him, and it’s something that bonded the two of us together,” Seckendorf told CBS Boston.

As special as the truck was, she was unable to afford the repairs the truck needed. With no place to store the vehicle, Seckendorf was forced to give the truck to a family friend.

She kept one key, however, on a keychain with a pair of angel wings. A special way to remember her father, and his red truck that had most likely ended up in a junkyard.

Or so she thought.

A fellow firefighter and friend did a double-take when he spotted what he believed to be Seckendorf’s father’s truck at an auto repair shop in Raymond, New Hampshire.

Knowing she couldn’t let the opportunity pass her by, she immediately went to investigate. And once she saw it, she could not contain her emotions.

“It was surreal, I instantly got chills, started crying, ran up to the truck, hugged it,” she said laughing.

When owner Duke Drownes saw Seckendorf’s reaction, he knew exactly what to do.

“I pretty much gave it to her,” he said. Drownes had already sunk money into repairs after rescuing the truck from a scrap pile a few months prior.

“It just felt good to do that, so I don’t know, it’s not all about profits.” Drownes knew she needed the truck “because of her father.”

“I never thought in a million years I would ever see this truck again,” Seckendorf said. “It’s like it dropped out of heaven.”
