10-Year-Old Girl's Incredible Voice Earns Her Golden Buzzer on 'Britain's Got Talent'

Share

“Britain’s Got Talent” is in full swing this season, and viewers just met the vocal talent of a 10-year-old Maltese girl named Giorgia Borg, who delivered a performance so impressive she earned a spot in the live semi-final round of the show.

Giorgia stood on stage in a relatively quiet and unassuming position before the music began to play.

The 10-year-old proceeded to belt out the lyrics to an original song she wrote with singer-songwriter Muxu, aptly titled “Ten.”

Giorgia had everyone’s attention as her voice soared through the air, resting confidently on each pitch and dynamic, communicating lyrics about young people not being listened to.

Judge Alesha Dixon, thrilled with the audition, pressed the golden buzzer, guaranteeing Giorgia a place in the live semifinals. Dixon later said that the performance “floored” her.

Giorgia is no stranger to the stage, having performed “Ten” in September 2018 in the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest, according to Malta Today.

The rising star has won vocal competitions, including first place at the Italian Una Stella Sta Nascendo in 2015 for Best Junior Talent, and first place at the 2017 Sanremo Junior competition in Malta.

Judge Simon Cowell told the girl that her performance was “amazing,” and Dixon called her “a star.”

“You floored me,” Dixon said. “Your lyrical capability, your vocal capability, you are ten years old. This is unbelievable, you are a star.”

Some viewers were upset that Giorgia is not really an undiscovered talent, given that she has already competed in prominent European vocal events, but no one can deny that the girl has some genuine vocal talent.

When Dixon pressed the button, Giorgia became the youngest act to get a golden buzzer on “Britain’s Got Talent” to date.

The semi-final round is scheduled to air on May 28 and 29, where viewers can vote for their favorite acts to advance to the finals.
