9-Year-Old Proclaimed Hero by First Responders After Saving Grandfather's Life
A 9-year-old Massachusetts boy is being hailed a hero for saving his grandfather’s life during a medical emergency.
As parents and grandparents, we try and teach our kids how to respond should an emergency come about.
While nobody wants their child to be alone and trying to manage an emergency situation, things can and do happen, and it’s best to be prepared.
In many homes, kids learn to recite their address and phone number, are taught to flee from a dangerous situation, and learn how to dial 911 during an emergency.
But we never really know exactly how a particular child will respond to an emergency until he or she meets something scary head-on.
Kazin Crisman, from Dartmouth, Massachusetts, recently met a scary situation head-on, and responded with incredible maturity and poise.
Kazin was visiting his grandfather, who lives nearby in Somerset.
During the visit, Kazin recognized that something was wrong with Grandpa.
Rather than panic, Kazin and had the knowledge and sense to remain calm and call 911.
Kazin was able to tell the dispatcher all the necessary information to get his grandpa help, fast.
The department said that Kazin was, “able to describe his grandfather’s symptoms and provide other valuable information that assisted first responders in providing necessary medical treatment.”
The Somerset Police Department is proud of Kazin’s actions, taking to social media to publicly praise their newest, and perhaps youngest, little hero.
“Hero’s (sic) comes in all shapes and sizes!” the department wrote.
Somerset police said that Kazin’s grandfather had indeed experienced a life-threatening medical emergency.
Had it not been for Kazin’s bravery, the situation could have taken a drastic turn for the worse.
“As you can see, Grandpa is doing much better!” the department wrote, sharing a photo of grandson and grandfather together.
“Kazin, all of us here at the Somerset PD are super proud of you!”
Kazin can now proudly join the ranks of kids who have faced an emergency and taken proper action.
Bravo to this brave young man, who proved to himself that he can handle an emergency, and proved that indeed, you’re never too young to help.
