Twelve-year-old Boo, a Pomeranian known by millions of fans as the world’s cutest dog, died on Jan. 18, according to a Facebook post by his owner.

Boo’s family, friends and mass of fans are mourning the loss of the dog who brought joy to millions on a daily basis alongside his best doggy friend, Buddy.

Boo was born in 2006, and quickly rose to internet fame, stealing the hearts of millions with his cute toy-like appearance.

After Buddy the dog passed away in 2017, it seemed that Boo was grieved to the core. He died from heart complications, his owner wrote.

“With deepest sadness I wanted to share that Boo passed away in his sleep early this morning and has left us to join his best friend, Buddy,” Boo’s owner wrote.

“Our family is heartbroken, but we find comfort knowing that he is no longer in any pain or discomfort.”

“Shortly after Buddy died, Boo showed signs of heart issues,” Boo’s owner said. “We think his heart literally broke when Buddy left us.

“He hung on and gave us over a year. But it looks like it was his time, and I’m sure it was a most joyous moment for them when they saw each other in heaven.”

Over the years, Boo made appearances on national television, including “Good Morning America” and Anderson Cooper’s “RidicuList.”

In August 2011, Boo was the subject of a book titled, “Boo: The Life of the World’s Cutest Dog.” The book was written by Boo’s owner under the pen name J.H. Lee.

Boo’s owner has never officially come forward to reveal his or her identity, reportedly in order to keep the focus on the dog, Business Insider reported in 2012.
