Carrie Underwood Posts First Close Up Photo of Face Since Accident
After months of teasing her fans with partial photos of her face, Carrie Underwood finally put her best face forward with a self-portrait on social media Friday.
Underwood had previously stated her facial appearance may be forever altered after a nasty fall she suffered in November.
We haven’t seen Underwood’s entire face since her injury, after which the megastar stated she “might look a bit different.” After five months relatively out of the public eye, Underwood is ready to make a big return, starting with a new single and a performance at the ACM Awards on April 15.
So far in 2018, all photos Underwood has posted have only revealed parts of her face. The 35-year-old stated she needed more than 40 stitches in her face, leading fans to expect quite a visible difference in the star’s appearance.
While her latest portrait casts Underwood under colored stage lighting and shadows, her face appears to look exactly the same as it always has — flawless. Maybe those closest to the singer have noticed a change, but to the public eye, Underwood looks unscarred thus far.
“Had a great rehearsal for the @acmawards!” the vocalist captioned her latest photo. “Can’t wait until tomorrow night! #CryPretty #ACMAwards.”
“Physically, I’m doing pretty darn good these days!” Underwood wrote on her fan club website on April 10. “My wrist is almost back to normal, about 90% there … and the docs say that last 10% will come in time.”
“And my face has been healing pretty nicely as well,” she continued. “I definitely feel more like myself than I have in a while.”
Underwood’s recovery has forced her to slow down a little, giving her more time to spend with hockey-playing husband Mike Fisher and their son, Isaiah.
Underwood has also used the time to get back into the studio, working on her sixth album.
Underwood introduced her latest single, “Cry Pretty,” on April 11. She will perform the single on live television during the ACM Awards on April 15.
“The title refers to when emotions take over and you just can’t hold them back,” Underwood explained to eager fans. “It really speaks to a lot of things that have happened in the past year and I hope when you hear it, you can relate those feelings to those times in your life.”
“It’s emotional. It’s real,” Underwood said of the new song. “And it ROCKS!”
