Family Orders Pizza But Gets Free Show When Delivery Driver Sits Down at Piano
A family in Shelby Township, Michigan, was treated to an impromptu classical piano performance compliments of their pizza delivery guy.
Julie Varchetti said her husband was home with the kids when he decided to get a pizza delivered from Hungry Howie’s.
She wasn’t home, but was blown away when her husband sent her a video of what had transpired at their rarely-used piano on July 25.
Varchetti’s husband noticed the teenage delivery man admiring the piano. He invited the Hungry Howie’s driver inside to give the keys a try, and found out the teen had some major talent.
He was so impressed that he took a video and sent it to his wife. She couldn’t help but share the teen’s talent with others.
Varchetti posted video of the performance on social media, and that’s when the internet first met 18-year-old Bryce Dudal.
The self-taught pianist is planning to enter his freshman year of college in the fall, and has been playing the piano for around 11 years.
As word of Dudal’s talent began to spread, it wasn’t long before Dudal found himself back in the Varchetti’s home, playing the ivories once more.
This time, he was filmed and interviewed by local station WXYZ-TV.
Dudal said he’s found the piano to be helpful in dealing with the ups and downs of life.
“It’s always a big stress reliever to be able to just bust out some Beethoven or Mozart,” Dudal said.
Varchetti told Dudal their piano didn’t see a lot of action in their home — just a few simple children’s tunes every now and then.
Dudal said it had been a while since he’d taken piano playing seriously (seriously?) — we’d like to see what happens when he brings back the seriousness.
But after the performance video went viral, Dudal has found a renewed inspiration to pour more time and effort into the instrument.
“This right here is maybe a big step for me to get back into music,” the teen said.
Dudal said he’s gained encouragement and inspiration from viewers who have seen (and loved) his playing. He hopes his playing can become an inspiration to others.
