Golden Retriever Over the Moon When Owners Gift Her Puppy for Christmas in Sweet Video
A golden retriever named Minnie was over the moon with excitement when a new puppy joined the family this Christmas.
For some dogs, welcoming a new pet into the family can be burdensome. The family dynamic shifts a bit, and not every pooch wants to share a human’s love and affection with someone new.
But for Minnie, a 1-year-old golden retriever living in Texas, the arrival of a new puppy proved to be the perfect Christmas gift.
Nicolette Hall, 23, decided that adding a puppy to the family would be best for everyone, especially her dog Minnie.
Hall, who works as a dog groomer, says that Minnie suffers from anxiety.
In Minnie’s case, Hall hoped that adding another furball to the family would have a comforting, confidence-boosting effect on Minnie.
“She has really bad fears and anxiety so we figured getting a new friend will help her come out of her shell,” Hall said according to Metro.
So a week or so before Christmas, Hall brought the new pup, 8-week-old Parker, home in a cardboard box.
Hall took a video of Minnie as she cautiously began to investigate the new smells and sounds of what was inside the box.
When Parker’s cute golden little head popped out, Minnie backed away. But a moment later, she crept back toward the box and gave Parker a great big sniff and hello.
The two tails were wagging as Parker eagerly tried to climb out of the box.
Hall was delighted to see her two furry loves begin to bond.
“It was kinda like love at first sight,” she said. “Minnie has always loved other dogs and having friends, now she has someone to grow up with and to help her be brave!”
Hall’s video has become a fan favorite this holiday season, with viewers loving the sweet golden puppy interaction.
Anxiety in dogs can look a little different depending on the dog’s personality, but often include trembling, cowering, tail tucked and efforts to withdraw or escape from social scenarios.
Others dogs will exhibit anxious behaviors such as excessive howling, urination or defecation.

Pet owners can use a variety of tactics to calm an anxious pooch, and in Minnie’s case, having someone familiar by her side seemed to be the perfect remedy.
