Share

People from around the globe are mourning the unexpected death of a fertility blogger who died during an emergency C-section in September.

One glimpse at her social media account, and you’ll understand how excited Vanessa Fernandez Arango was to become a mom.

After an ectopic pregnancy in 2016 and another one in 2017, it seemed 2018 would finally be her year.

Arango started an Instagram account, documenting her pregnancy journey.

She had over 10,000 followers, among them, women who also struggled with infertility. Many hopeful moms saw Arango’s first viable pregnancy as hope for their own lives.

Buenas a todas!!!!!! ????, no debería… Buenas noches guapas!!!! #invitro #fiv #diabetesgestacional #31semanas #bebé #bebéencamino #nutella #mamá #amatxu #reproducciónasistida #embarazo #embarazoectópico #mamasintrompas #babyboy #golosa

On Sept. 2, Arango’s husband Jonathan Garcia gave a devastating update on his wife and their newborn son.

Arango was 38 weeks pregnant when she began to experience pain so intense that she passed out at home. She was rushed to a hospital and underwent an emergency C-section, WPIX-TV reported.

#vaneonfire #alvaroelguerrero #superpapa #hospitaldecruces

Tragically, Arango had a heart attack during the surgery, and did not survive. Her newborn son did survive, and was soon discharged to go home with his father.

Garcia initially thought he would close his wife’s Instagram account, but later decided it may be beneficial to keep it open as a way to serve others, just as his wife had done.

“Here you have our first family photo, missing the fourth member of the group that watches us from the sky and helps us get up at 3,” Garcia wrote on a photo of him, his newborn son, and their family dog posed together at home.

Garcia has expressed his heartfelt thanks for the droves of supporters that have left condolences. He and baby Alvaro are managing one hard day at a time.

Garcia also thanked the clinic that helped him and Arango get pregnant, giving them the little miracle of their precious baby boy.
