Hours After Joy-Anna Duggar Births First Child, Name For Son Is Released

Share

The past year has been a whirlwind for Joy-Anna (Duggar) Forsyth and her husband Austin Forsyth, the freshly-minted couple who wed on reality television’s Counting On. The couple married in May 2017 and soon after announced they were expecting their first child.

“We’re so happy and thankful to announce that we’re expecting a baby!” Joy-Anna announced last August. “Every child is such a precious gift from God.”

The couple told PEOPLE shortly after their wedding they won’t be setting any limits on the number of children they will have — they are leaving it in the Lord’s hands. Joy-Anna added her excitement to see her husband become a father.

After a romantic honeymoon in Geneva, Switzerland, the couple returned to the states and hunkered down to turn their house into a home.

Joy-Anna and Austin decided to stick close to their Arkansas hometown, renovating a house just in time for baby’s arrival.

“I’m really looking forward to the journey of this pregnancy and all the different stages it will bring,” Austin said, sharing his wife’s pregnancy enthusiasm. “It’s really exciting and I feel so blessed to be a dad!”

The Duggar family is notorious for, well, expanding, and has grown yet again with the arrival of Joy-Anna’s firstborn son.

Joy-Anna, 20, and Austin, 24, were all smiles as they posed with their 10 lbs 3 oz bundle of joy.

“We are blessed beyond measure with the arrival of our son, Gideon Martyn Forsyth,” the couple told PEOPLE.

“Looking at our child for the first time was such an incredible moment! God is so good, and we are so thankful.”

Austin and his bride were childhood friends long before they began courting, about 15 years.

In line with the Duggar family expectations, Austin got permission from the family patriarch to court Joy-Anna and waited until his wedding day to share a kiss with his bride.

Joy-Anna has shared her intentions to make family priorities front and center in her life.

Drawing back on her own childhood, she hopes to continue the tradition of making memories and spending time together.

“I have a lot of good memories of my mom teaching us and the quality time we spent together, and I’m really looking forward to doing that with my own children,” Joy-Anna stated. “It’s such an amazing thing to be a parent and raise children!”

Joy-Anna and baby Gideon are reportedly in excellent health. No doubt the new parents will spend plenty of hours gazing at their miraculous masterpiece, wrapped up in snuggles and love.
