Maintenance Guy Hears Puppy Cries Coming from Deep Inside Dumpster
He’s only ten weeks old, but a puppy from El Dorado County, California, has already lived to see the best and worst of humanity.
We’ll likely never know the puppy’s whole story, but thanks to a few kind souls, the pup’s future remains bright.
Someone had to have carried the warm bundle to a well-hidden blue dumpster located in between a CVS pharmacy and an auto parts store. Someone had to have lifted the heavy dumpster lid, intentionally abandon the innocent dog inside, and walk away.
There’s no other explanation for how the dog reached the depths of the dumpster, according to a maintenance worker who discovered the pup on Feb. 5.
Lee Frohman from Pollock Pines, California, said the puppy was sitting in a trash bag, helpless to escape on his own.
Frohman lifted the gentle pup from the dumpster and brought him to the nearby O’Reilly Auto Parts store.
It wasn’t long before local animal control authorities were on their way to pick up the Labrador mix and begin the process of finding him a permanent home.
Chief Henry Brzezinski of El Dorado County Animal Services wishes the dog’s original owner would have simply surrendered the pup to the shelter instead of the trash. They are treating this pup’s case as animal cruelty and abandonment.
“That’s just a horrendous thing to do to an animal,” Brzezinski told KTXL-TV. “That’s why animal shelters exist.”
There is really no excuse for abandoning an animal, Brzezinski explained.
The shelter works with people and pets in all sorts of circumstances to figure out a compassionate, dignified solution to transitioning an animal to a new family.
“We’ll take animals in if people no longer want them,” Brzezinski stated. “We work with people if they can’t afford an owner surrender fee.”
The bounding, energetic puppy was placed in the care of El Dorado County Animal Services. According to KTXL, the pup was estimated to be approximately 10 weeks old, and would soon be available for adoption.
“We take animal cruelty seriously here in El Dorado County,” Brzezinski said.
“And we will continue and investigate, and hopefully find out who this person was that was responsible for this cruel act.”
Thankfully for this pup, the traumatic experience is behind him. He has his whole doggy life ahead of him, bright-eyed and resilient, able to give his heart to a family that intends to keep him forever.
