Palace Releases First Photos of Prince Louis, People Immediately Notice The Blue Cardigan

Share

Much to the delight of royal family fans, Kensington Palace has released the first official photos of His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge. Baby Louis was born on April 23, and people are already starting to notice one major detail about the newborn’s appearance.

The photos of Louis were taken by his mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, who has an eye for photography. Many fans have marveled at the simplistic beauty the Duchess is able to capture when she is photographing her children.

The first photo was taken on May 2, Princess Charlotte’s third birthday. The freshly minted 3-year-old is shown cradling her baby brother in her arms, planting a delicate kiss on the prince’s head.

Fans who follow the family closely noticed Princess Charlotte’s navy blue cardigan used to belong to her big brother, Prince George.

Prince George famously wore the cardigan in an official photo marking Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday, where she sat surrounded by her two youngest grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The second photo was taken on April 26, and features Prince Louis wearing a white jumper, laying awake on a soft white blanket. The white jumper is also a hand-me-down, worn by Princess Charlotte in her first official photos in 2015.

The portrait of Prince Louis has many people remarking how much the newborn resembles his father, Prince William. The baby is just shy of two weeks old, but people are remarking on how Louis’ facial features remind them of a baby Prince William.

In a lovely side-by-side photo, a newborn Prince William is held in Princess Diana’s arms. Baby Louis is on the opposite side, showing off eye color and skin tone that is much like his father’s.

Many social media users pointed out that while baby Louis looks like his father, Princess Charlotte is looking more and more like her mother. Prince George, age 4, seems to be more of a mix of both parents.

Upon releasing the photos, Kensington Palace took a moment to thank the public for sending so many warm wishes over the past weeks. “The Duke and Duchess would like to thank members of the public for their kind messages following the birth of Prince Louis, and for Princess Charlotte’s third birthday,” the Palace wrote.

In approximately two more weeks, the royal family will step into the spotlight again for the highly anticipated wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The wedding is set to take place at Windsor Castle on May 19.

Baby Louis will reportedly stay at home during the royal wedding. His older siblings will be there, ready to reprise their adorable wedding party roles.
