Police Officer Buys New Tires for Single Mom Stranded on Roadside After She Prays for Help
Rutherford County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Finley had a hunch that he should go above and beyond the call of duty to help a single mother who had two flat tires and was stranded on the roadway.
Finley ended up being the answer to the prayers of Erica Senecal, who had been faithfully praying that God would bring someone to give her a bit of a helping hand.
Finley stopped to help Senecal when he noticed her flat tire. Then he saw she was already driving on the spare tire, meaning she needed at least two tires repaired or replaced.
Finley took the flat tire that had been stored in Senecal’s car trunk and brought it to a local tire repair shop, Bud’s Tire Pros. He ended up returning to Senecal with a mechanic in tow, who brought her vehicle to the shop.
Finley told the worried mother that he was going to pay to replace all four tires on her car.
“I want you to be safe on the road,” the deputy told her.
The random act of kindness left Senecal in tears, knowing her prayers had been answered.
“I cried,” Senecal wrote on Facebook, explaining how the story unfolded.
“After we got the car to the shop, I thanked him and the mechanics again and again,” she wrote.
“He handed me a business card with 2 bible verses he’d written,” she continued.
The deputy explained that he simply felt compelled to lend her a hand. ” “Something inside me told me to stop and help you,” he wrote.
“I smiled because I understood; I’d been praying for days, waiting for God to supply,” Senecal wrote. “I never expected my responder to be from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department.”
Senecal drove away that day with four gently used tires on her vehicle, compliments of a law enforcement officer she had never met.
“I want to publicly thank Deputy Finley and the mechanics at Bud’s Tire Pros in Murfreesboro,” Senecal wrote. “If you need help, call them. If you need another kind of help, ask God.”
Senecal later told WZTV that she believes the entire encounter was a part of God’s plan.
“I do believe God orchestrated this,” Senecal said. “I was praying specifically for help and God provided Chris.”
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office also praised Finley for his act of kindness.
“Deputy Finley has a giving heart and responds to people in need,” the sheriff’s office told WTVF. “We thank him for helping Erica Senecal and thank Bud’s Tire for helping getting Erica rolling again.”
