'Star Trek' Actress Stephanie Niznik Dead at 52
Television actress Stephanie Niznik has died at age 52, according to a Variety report.
Niznik died unexpectedly on June 23 in Encino, California. The cause of death has not yet been released.
Niznik was perhaps most famous for her role as Nina Feeney on the television series, “Everwood,” which ran from 2002 to 2006.
The actress was also well known for her roles in “Star Trek: Insurrection,” in 1998, and an appearance on “Star Trek: Enterprise.”
Niznik also worked across a variety of other television shows, including “Nash Bridges,” “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and a recurring role on “Diagnosis Murder.”
She made guest appearances on popular shows such as “Lost,” “NCIS” and “CSI: Miami.”
In 2017, Niznik appeared alongside many of her “Everwood” cast members for a reunion at the Television Critics’ Association to celebrate the show’s availability on the app CW Seed.

According to Variety, Niznik was involved in volunteer and outreach work, focusing on hunger, children and animal rescue organizations.
She was born in Maine and had planned to become a geneticist before falling in love with theater. She graduated from Duke University with a major in theater and Russian and went on to accept small acting roles before falling into television work.
Fellow Duke classmate Christopher Pelham wrote a kind tribute to the young woman he knew from school, writing in part, “Steph was the first person I connected with at Duke, and she was always kind to me.”
“We performed in Circus Cervantes and The Taming of the Shrew together my freshman year. She took me out to dinner, wrote me Christmas cards, encouraged me.
“She was always so kind to me and I always appreciated it,” Pelham wrote.
Niznik is survived by her two dogs, mother and stepfather, brother and sister-in-law, niece and nephews and aunt and uncle, Variety reported.
Fans have expressed their sorrow and condolences on social media, saddened that Niznik has passed away at such a young age. Our hearts go out to her family during this sad time.
