This Quick & Easy French Toast Recipe Has Over 12 Million Views

Share

A straightforward recipe for French toast proves that less is more, with over 12 million satisfied viewers eating with joy.

This French toast recipe is likely the one you grew up on, just plain old white bread dipped in a simple batter and cooked to perfection in a regular old frying pan.

The bread is pretty standard, processed in a factory and contains (gasp) gluten. Also carbs.

The batter is just like Dad used to make — two eggs, a splash of milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and perhaps white sugar.

French toast, for many kids, was one of the first independent meals a young cook could make with relative success.

YouTuber Crouton Crackerjacks is proving that simple is better with a French toast recipe that is delicious, satisfying, and easy.

The popular recipe has over 12 million views online, bringing delicious breakfasts to tables worldwide.

“There is nothing fancy here because simple is better with this,” recipe author Crouton Crackerjacks wrote on YouTube.

“About the best french toast you’ll have anywhere!”

Ingredients:

  • 6 sliced Texas toast or thick cut bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk or cream
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • pinch of salt
  • splash of vanilla extract
  • butter and vegetable oil for cooking

The video walks the viewer through the simple steps of making the classic French toast recipe.

Start with a pie dish and add the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla. While exact measurements are given in the ingredients list, helpful to new cooks, precision is not necessary.

A glug of milk will do. A splash of vanilla is great. Extra cinnamon is just fine!

As for the bread, the author recommends Texas toast because of the thick cut — but any bread will do.

With an oiled pan nice and hot, the cook dipped each side of the bread into the batter and placed one piece at a time into the pan.

And of course, the golden French toast is best served with classic maple syrup, and perhaps a dusting of powdered sugar if you’re in the mood.

“Sometimes it’s better to keep things simple,” the author said, “and French toast is one of those things.”
