13 Days After Billy Graham Death, Petition Signed By 70,000 Breaks Graham Family All Over Again

“America’s Pastor” Reverend Billy Graham passed away on Feb. 21, 2017 at the age of 99.

The beloved pastor was known across the globe for his efforts to spread the word of God to over 215 million people for 50 years.

Throughout his lifetime, Graham also served as an adviser to multiple US presidents, forming close bonds with many through the years.

The pastor was the first private citizen to “lie in honor” at the U.S. capital before his burial since Rosa Parks in 2005.

People from across the globe came to honor the globe-trotting pastor at his March 2 funeral on the grounds of the Billy Graham Library.

Over 2000 guests attended to bid farewell to the evangelist, including his five children, former American presidents, and current President Donald Trump.

The day was one filled with tears, but one also filled with joy for Graham to finally go home to God.

But now, a new petition with 70,000 signatures and growing has the Graham family in tears all over again.

The Change.org petition is calling for a national holiday in honor of America’s Pastor.

In recognition of Graham’s incredible impact on the world, the petition calls on lawmakers to declare the holiday.



 

“Lets get a National Holiday for Billy Graham!!” the petition begins.

“Mr. Graham preached the Gospel to more people in live audiences than anyone else in history—nearly 215 million people in more than 185 countries and territories—through various meetings, including Mission World and Global Mission.

“Hundreds of millions more have been reached through television, video, film, and webcasts.

“Mr. Graham’s counsel was sought by presidents, and his appeal in both the secular and religious arenas is evidenced by the wide range of groups that have honored him, including numerous honorary doctorates from many institutions in the U.S. and abroad,” it continued.

The petition ends asking viewers to sign and help remember the truly remarkable man Reverend Billy Graham was. So far, the petition has nearly 70,000 signatures with a current goal of 75,000.
