Country Music Star Loretta Lynn Has Another Setback on New Year's Day after Stroke

Share

In May 2016, Country music superstar Loretta Lynn suffered a stroke in the middle of her tour.

The stroke, along with a chest injury, forced the “Coal Miner’s Daughter” to cancel following shows in the tour and to even postpone her new album.

Lynn’s brother reported that at first, her whole left side was paralyzed, but that she was making improvements and beginning to walk with a walker.

She even made a surprise visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame induction while in recovery.

Lynn was hoping her recovery would be quick and painless so that she could get back to performing.

She took to Facebook to let her fans know she couldn’t wait to see them on the road.

However, a further setback for the star happened on New Year’s Day after a fall in her home.

A statement on her website says Lynn fractured her hip, but is “doing well and thanks all her fans for their thoughts and prayers.”

Lynn’s daughter Patsy is thankful that her mother’s injury did not turn out worse.

“At my mom’s age it’s so dangerous when it comes to the hip, so we’re all just grateful she seems to be okay.” she said. “She’s up putting weight on it and starting her rehab now.”

Of course, Lynn is eager to get back to performing. “She’s in great spirits,” Patsy said.

“She’s just aggravated because she was recovering so well and getting around. Now this is a setback.”

Lynn’s sister, singer Crystal Gayle, also asked for prayers for Lynn as she continues to recover.

But if her more than 60-year country music career says anything about how she will recover, Lynn won’t be settling down for good any time soon.

“They tell me to rest all the time, but I’m not tired!” Lynn said in 2016. “I don’t have to work now. I don’t have to, but I love to.

“I can probably outwork anyone in Nashville. I ain’t ready to lay down and die. I don’t see no reason to quit right now.”

Plain and simply, singing country music is Lynn’s passion, and she is hoping to overcome these setbacks quickly.

Our thoughts and prayers are with this country legend as she continues to recover.
