Teens Wearing Moms' Vintage Dresses to Prom Is Cutest Trend To Hit the Internet in Years

Share

When 17-year-old Olivia Parker received her custom-made prom dress from China, she was incredibly excited to see how perfectly it had come out.

Of course, the Scottsdale, Arizona, native had a back-up dress in case the custom dress didn’t work out.

But since all went according to plan, she decided to lend her back-up dress to a friend who suddenly needed one.

When the day of prom finally arrived, Olivia made her way to the dry cleaners to pick up her custom dress. But when she pulled off the plastic covering, she was horrified by what she saw.

“There was a big dark crease like it was burned when they pressed it,” she explained. “It was right in front too, there was no way I could wear it. It was totally ruined.”

Olivia had spent the day getting her hair and nails done, but without a dress, she felt like her prom was ruined too. But then her mom, Brande, had an idea.

Brande went into her closet and soon pulled out the dress she wore to her own prom in 1991. She had Olivia try it on, and sure enough, it was a perfect fit.

Olivia went to the dance that night wearing her mother’s dress and had the time of her life.

“I put it on and I did love it!  It was a blast to dance in too!” Olivia said. “My friends all said I was lucky, their moms’ dresses were typical ’90s and not cool at all.

“My mom has a great sense of style so I’m not surprised she would have a dress that’s still wearable 25 years later,” she continued.

“She’s just one of those people.  She was super happy I wore it and said it was worth dragging around all these years.”
