Police Officer Pulls $100 Bill Out of Pocket, Hands It to Woman He Just Met at Little Caesars

When we mull over the idea of authority figures, police officers play a prominent part. After all, it’s harder to think of anyone who wields more dominion in our everyday lives.

Police may not make the rules, but they certainly enforce them. They catch ne’er-do-wells, making sure that they cease their law-breaking ways.

Yet that’s not all that officers do. In fact, they can perform acts of kindness and charity as they walk their daily beats.

Consider Toronto Police officer Mark Borsboom. According to the National Post, he was patrolling around the Rogers Centre, a stadium in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on May 28, 2013.

In the late afternoon, he encountered an elderly man whose shoe had come untied. Not wanting the man to trip, Borsboom got down on his knees and tied it.

It just so happened that marketer Jason Cassidy was standing nearby, and he snapped a picture of the encounter that quickly went viral.

At first, he said, “I thought he was being searched for drugs or something like that.” He then realized what was happening and knew he had to share.

“I was shocked, but at the same time, not really, we need positive stories like this that aren’t often in the media,” Cassidy said.

A woman from Perry, Georgia, had an encounter that completely changed her opinion of law enforcement. According to WXGA, Kemesha Keller was standing in line at a local Little Caesars when she struck up a conversation with Sgt. Brian Mixon of the Perry Police Department.

“I was trying to keep my answers short and sweet because I didn’t want to draw any attention to myself,” she said, alluding to the fact that most of her encounters with law enforcement hadn’t been pleasant. But something was different about her conversation with Mixon.

“It felt like I wasn’t talking to a cop,” Keller said. “It felt like I was talking to, like, maybe — like an angel.”

Mixon did something truly angelic next. He reached into his pocket and handed her $100.

“I had a confused look on my face, the officer says your children will always be your first investment, and that he wanted to invest in our weekend and gave us 100 dollars,” she wrote on Facebook. “My heart literally stopped and my fiancé and I started crying.

“It’s amazing when someone from the outside, sees the sacrifices you make to make sure your family is taken care of.

“I didn’t know his name and felt bad for not getting it, everything happened so fast. After 24 hours, I found out who that angel was!!!!

“Thank you officer Mixon and your family once again. The world needs to share more positivity and love!”
