Police Searching for Missing Age 13 Girl After Mysterious 911 Call Led Them to Parents' Bodies

Ed. note — An update to this story can be found here.

Tense stories thrive on uncertainty. By giving an audience a little bit of information, a storyteller can tie them up in proverbial knots.

The killer’s call is coming from inside the house, but no one knows exactly where. The bomb has been planted, and the hero only has a few scant seconds to disarm it.

The warden is ready to proceed with the execution until the governor’s number pops up on his cell phone. Everyone understands how these examples work.

A fresh case out of Wisconsin sounds just like those scenarios — only it’s real this time, not fiction. According to CNN, a double murder happened in the sleepy town of Barron, Wisconsin, on Oct. 15.

The victims, James and Denise Closs, were husband and wife. But as horrible as their murders are, police aren’t focusing on them so much right now.

Instead, they’re sounding the alarm about the couple’s daughter who they believe is very much alive. See, 13-year-old Jayme Closs lived with them in their house.

However, she wasn’t one of the murder victims. USA Today reported that authorities received a 911 call the evening of the attack.

The person on the line asked for help, although emergency services aren’t saying who made it. Authorities have made it clear that Jayme isn’t a suspect in her parents’ deaths.

Rather, they believe that she was abducted at gunpoint by one or more men. The FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children have joined the manhunt for Jayme.

Additionally, an Amber alert went out on Oct. 15. It quickly bore fruit.

Police in Miami, Florida, said they’d received a tip about a sighting of Jayme, according to ABC News. The tip stated that the girl was in a black Ford Explorer.

Two men were reportedly in the vehicle with her. They were in their thirties and well dressed.

What’s more, they appeared to be Middle Eastern, and both had beards.

Right now, law enforcement isn’t speculating as to motives for the shooting and kidnapping. “At the end of the end of the day, I want a 13-year-old here safe and sound,” Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said.

“That’s our goal. That’s our only goal right now.”

If you have any information or have possibly seen this girl, please contact the Barron County Sheriff’s Department at 715-537-3106. We are all praying for Jayme’s safe return.
